Grit (Great Resilience in Time) is a key factor in achieving success and overcoming obstacles. It is the ability to persevere and maintain a long-term goal despite setbacks and challenges. In this workbook, we will explore the concept of grit and how it can be developed in leaders. We will use Dr. India White’s TEDx talk “The Power of Grit” and her dissertation on “Understanding the persistence of Take Stock in Children scholarship recipients” as resources for our discussion. Further, we will use Dr. White’s framework throughout reflection to remain accountable for increasing leaders’ grit levels throughout their career. As the year progresses, you will have the opportunity to engage with leaders in a way that will help you understand their comprehension of grit in general and where they are cultivating grit. Then, you will be able to use this workbook as a resource to harness grit in your leaders as they persist towards career goals. If possible, feel free to use data from various assessments, projects, professional development assignments and conversations from your leaders to gauge their grit levels and their instructional performance. Then, throughout the year, refer back to these tools and have moments of introspection so you can know how you’ve been successful at cultivating grit in each entrepreneur!
